Bizman killed in Sashan, local people block road

Local residents of Sashan in North 24-Parganas on Tuesday put up a block on Taki road to protest against the murder of a businessman whose body was recovered on Monday night.

The road block had caused huge traffic jam on Taki road. After being informed, the police officers from the nearby police station rushed to the spot and tried to convince the demonstrators to withdraw the blockade.

But the agitated mob demanded the immediate arrest of the accused who were involved in the murder of the businessman.

Despite of the assurance from the senior police officers, the agitators were unwilling to the lift their blockade as a result of which the vehicles were caught in a long queue along the Taki road.

The block was, however, lifted later as the police assured the villagers that the accused would soon be booked and stern action will be taken against them.

Police said that Sahangari Alam, a businessman from Golabari area of Sashan was going to East Midnapore to buy some materials. The miscreants had prior information that the victim was carrying around Rs 3 lakh.

When he was riding his motorcycle along the Taki road, the miscreants stopped him and hit him with a sharp weapon and snatched away the money.

The accused came on a motorcycle. The local people took the victim to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that victim might have developed some business rivalry with the accused.

Police are, however, investigating the real motive behind the murder. They are conducting raids to nab the culprits. A probe has been initiated.
