Bizman beaten up by toll plaza employees

A businessman was allegedly beaten up by some employees of the toll plaza at Nivedita Setu. Police said that a transport businessman, Pankaj Gupta, a resident of Kankurgachi area was returning home in a car with some of his associates when the incident took place.

A quarrel broke out between the businessman and some staff members of the toll plaza and this soon led to a scuffle. Both the groups lodged complaints against each other at Nischinda police station.

On Monday afternoon Gupta was returning to the city from Dankuni when he saw that some members of the toll plaza were allowing some vehicles into a lane which was free from any traffic.

When he raised protest and asked them why some vehicles were given the advantage they pounced on him and dragged him out of his car. They allegedly pushed the businessman. When his associates came to his rescue they were also heckled by the accused.

The accused also beat up the businessman who suffered injuries on some portions of his body.
Two of his associates were also injured in the incident. Gupta and his two associates were taken to NRS Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

They were later released from the hospital after some treatment. Gupta lodged a complaint at the Nischinda police station alleging that they were beaten up by the workers of the toll plaza without any provocation.

The accused also lodged a counter complaint in the same police station saying that the businessman and his associates attacked them. Police are verifying the CCTV footages to look into the matter.

The businessman told the police that they protested against the irregularities of some of the staff members and when he asked to know the reason the accused attacked them in which they received severe injuries.
