Bikers open fire at man in Saket, cops suspect revenge

A 26-year-old man was allegedly shot by three unidentified armed motorbike-borne assailants in South Delhi’s Saket area late Sunday evening.

The incident took place around 8 pm when Iqbal was returning home, police said. He was standing at Khirki Extension bus stand near a mall when three assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at him. “They shot around eight rounds at Iqbal. Three bullets hit Iqbal in the head, killing him on the spot,” said a police official.

Hearing gunshots, people standing at the bus stop ran helter-skelter for safety. A PCR call was made to the police, who took Iqbal to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The documents that the deceased was carrying with him at the time of the incident helped the police to establish his identity, after which they informed his family. Police said the incident could be a possible gang war and revenge of a similar shootout that took place a few days ago in the GK area. Teams have been formed to identity the culprits. A case under the relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at the Malviya Nagar police station.
