This is beginning of the end for BJP, says Mamata

New Delhi: Reacting to election trends on Tuesday, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that it was the beginning of the end for the BJP.

"People voted against BJP. This is the people's verdict and the victory of the people of this country. A victory of democracy and victory against injustice, atrocities, destruction of institutions, misuse of agencies, no work for poor people, farmers, youth, Dalits, SC, ST, OBC, minorities and general caste," she said in a series of tweets.

"Semifinal proves that BJP is nowhere in all the states. This is a real democratic indication of 2019 final match. Ultimately, people are always the 'man of the match' of democracy. My congrats to the winners," she tweeted.

The Trinamool Congress chief, who is currently in Delhi and holding meetings with opposition leaders, also said the trends indicated the outcome of the 2019 general elections.

On Tuesday evening, the Trinamool Congress supremo met former President Pranab Mukherjee and Congress Rajya Sabha MP and the state's counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi at their residences.

The Bengal CM will leave on Wednesday to attend Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani's daughter's marriage in Mumbai on Thursday.
