Thirteen feared killed in Sonepat road accident

Sonepat: Thirteen people have been reportedly killed and sixteen people were injured in a multiple-vehicle collision in Sonepat district. The mishap occurred at Mundlana village in the town of Gohana that is situated at Sonepat-Panipat highway.

The incident occurred around 5.30 pm on Sunday when a truck, a Swift car and a Cruiser van and a motorcycle collided. According to law enforcement officials, the truck was driving at a high speed and was travelling in the wrong direction. Suddenly the driver of the heavy vehicle lost his balance and crashed into the other vehicles.

Those injured are being treated at BPS government medical college in Khanpur Kalan in Sonepat.

Among the dead who have been identified are Farmaan, Qasim and Shabrez. The three friends who belonged to Kairana, Shamli and Baghpat area of Uttar Pradesh were travelling in the land cruiser. The bodies of the four were so badly mangled that they could be only identified from the identity cards.

Another person who has been identified as Gajendra Singh Indra also succumbed in the accident. He was a resident of Rohtak. Law enforcement officials are trying to identity the others killed in the accident.
