T'gana adopts resolution against CAA, NPR, NRC

Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly on Monday adopted a resolution against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the National Population Register (NPR). The resolution was moved by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who said the three exercises will result in the exclusion of a large number of people from the ambit of citizenship. In the resolution, the members of the Telangana Assembly urged the Centre to remove all references to any religion or any foreign country in the Citizenship Act. "Besides violating principles of equality, non-discrimination and secularism, the concerted attempt would also endanger the lives of vulnerable groups who did not possess documentary proof of citizenship," it added.
