Supreme Court orders Madhya Pradesh floor test tomorrow

Madhya Pradesh Government Crisis Live Updates: The Supreme Court on Thursday suggested that Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker N P Prajapati should interact with the rebel Congress MLAs through a video link or the court can appoint an observer to put an end to the fear that the legislators are in captivity. Prajapati, however, refused to accept the top court's proposal.

Taking a jibe at the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker on Thursday, former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asked what does the Speaker need extra time for? The former chief minister's reaction comes after the Supreme Court's hearing in the case.

Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing on behalf of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker N P Prajapati, sought two weeks of time and asked the Supreme Court to let the rebel MLAs return to their homes. "Please give me two weeks' time to decide. Let the rebel MLAs come back to MP, their homes," he said. The apex court, which is hearing the BJP's plea for immediate floor test in the state, resumed hearing the case on Thursday.
