Scottish welcome for Bengal team

Edinburgh: Amit Mitra, state Finance Minister attended a programme on Wednesday afternoon, organised by the Scottish Development International at The Rowantree here to felicitate the team from Bengal.
Chief Secretary Malay De along with a host of top businessmen from Bengal also attended the function.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will attend a business meeting here on Thursday which will be organised by the Scottish Development International.
A team of top businessmen from Bengal is accompanying Banerjee. Sanjiv Goenka, Gautam Chatterjee, Managing Director of Exide Industries, Sanjay Budhia, Mayank Jalan, Tarun Jhunjhunwalla, Biswadip Gupta, Sumit Dabriwal, Satyam Roy Chowdhury and Srikant Venkatesh are all set to meet the industrialists at the business summit on Thursday. Mitra and De will also be present at the meeting.
There are a lot of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) firms in Scotland that are looking for avenues to invest or collaborate with Indian companies. The organisers have held similar meetings with other states but this will be the first time that they will be meeting a delegation from Bengal.
In the FICCI-UKBIC roundtable which was held at St. James Court Hotel in London on Monday, Mamata Banerjee had urged the business community attending the meeting to visit Bengal and invest. She has also invited steel baron L N Mittal to attend the Bengal Global Business Summit which will be held in Kolkata in January 2018.
