Rajasthan ballot unit box found on highway
Jaipur: A ballot unit box was found lying unattended on National Highway 27 near Shahabad town of Kishanganj Assembly Constituency in Baran district of Rajasthan on Friday night. The ballot unit had Kishanganj 194 and R-149 written on it. Villagers who spotted the box alerted the police.
District Election Officer S P Singh said that two officials, Abdul Rafeeq and Patwari Naval Singh, were suspended with immediate effect on grounds of negligence. Singh issued the suspension order after taking cognisance of the fact-finding report of the returning officer, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kishanganj, in connection with the incident.
As per protocol, the machine was to be sent to the district headquarter to be kept in the strong room, he said. Rajasthan went to polls on Friday and the results will be announced on December 11.
