Rafale: CAG report may be tabled in winter session

New Delhi: It seems the troubles for the government in the 'controversial' multi-crore Rafale fighter plane deal may mount as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) is on the verge on completing its audit report on Rafale deal.

According to sources, the auditing of the Rafale deal is likely to be completed in the next few days, and after that, it would be sent to the Defence Ministry for final comments on the report.

"After incorporating the comments of the ministry on 'certain' issues, the report would be finalised. The report is likely to be tabled in the upcoming Winter Session of the Parliament," the sources said, adding that the report would be exact and not voluminous.

The sources also claimed that the CAG is auditing all the aspects of the Rafale deal, including procedural lapses and financial losses. The CAG in its audit report has also suggested corrective measures that could have been followed during the finalisation of Rafale deal, the sources said.

The Rafale deal has resulted in a political slugfest between the government and the opposition.
