Primary, secondary contacts of +ve patients may home quarantine, conditions apply: Mamata

Kolkata: In a major development, the state government decided to allow primary and secondary contacts of COVID-19 positive patients to be in-home quarantine if they have "reasonable living space at their homes" without being taken to institutional quarantine facilities.

The step has been taken in order to provide some mental relief to the near and dear ones of the COVID-19 positive patient.

However, they have to follow all the set norms of maintaining physical distancing and will be subjected to close surveillance of the local health authorities. Their health status will also be monitored closely for appropriate interventions as and when necessary. But it is mandatory to admit COVID-19 positive patients to dedicated hospitals for treatment.
