Now, Kolkata Police summons CBI Jt Dir

Kolkata: Kolkata Police served summons to Joint Director (JD) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Kolkata Zone, Pankaj Srivastava in connection with an earlier case of cheating to the tune of upto Rs 45 lakh which was lodged approximately a year ago.

After receiving the summons, Srivastava left for Delhi on Monday afternoon to meet his superior officers. Earlier in the day, a team from Bhowanipore police station went to Srivastava's office on the 16th floor at Nizam Palace in South Kolkata to hand over the notice, asking him to appear as a 'witness' for the recording of his statement. The case is related to the escape of an accused from the CBI custody in Howrah.

The notice was delivered under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code (police officer's power to require the attendance of witnesses) to him, according to sources.
