Mamata in Mumbai: CM to meet top biz honchos

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left for Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon to attend a programme of Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) and meet the top industrialists there.
Senior representatives of YPO had invited the Chief Minister to their programme that will be held at Hotel Trident on Wednesday.
Banerjee will be joined by state Finance and Industry minister Amit Mitra and Chief Secretary Malay De on Wednesday. Senior officials from the state Commerce and Industries department are also slated to be present.
The top brass of different multi-national companies and corporate houses will be attending the programme of the YPO where the infrastructural development that Bengal has witnessed in the past six years under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee will be highlighted. According to experts, Banerjee's visit to Mumbai will understandably help in attracting more investment in the state.
The Chief Minister will also be meeting top industrialists in Mumbai, inviting them for the forthcoming Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), scheduled to be held on January 16 and 17 respectively. If everything goes according to plan, she will meet the industrialists and businessmen after attending the YPO's programme.
It may be mentioned that industrialists from different parts of the country and abroad had attended the BGBS in all the past three years since its commencement. So the visit of the Chief Minister to the financial capital of the country with only a couple of months left for BGBS will surely be pivotal in attracting more investment proposals.
It may be recalled that the Mamata Banerjee government held a programme in Mumbai in July this year in the run-up to the BGBS. Mitra was then accompanied by senior officials of the state Commerce and Industries department and West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC). Later again in September, Mitra went to Mumbai where he met the top brass of the chemical industries.
