GJM announces 5-man team for August 29 talks

Darjeeling: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) on Saturday announced the names of a five-member team to attend the talks called by the State Government at Nabbanna on August 29. The GJM President will not be part of the team. Incidentally on August 22, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced that a meeting would be held at 4 pm on August 29 at Nabanna to be attended by all hill parties wanting peace and normality in the Hills.
The meeting was in response to a letter written by Mann Ghising, President of the Gorkha Liberation Front (GNLF), seeking the CM's intervention to resolve the Darjeeling impasse.
Initially, the Hill parties were reluctant to respond to the invite for talks but later they stated that they were awaiting formal invitations from the State.
After receipt of the formal invitation from the State Government, the GJM had declared that it would participate in the meet but would press for the creation of a Gorkhaland state.
On Saturday the GJM made public the names of leaders who would be attending the talks. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha team will be led by Binay Tamang, Chief Coordinator, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, along with Dr R B Bhujel, President, GJM Kalimpong District Committee; Anit Thapa, Assitant general Secretary from Kurseong; Tshering Dahal, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha Terai Convenor and Rohit Thapa, Organising Secretary, Dooar's committee.
