Four including engineer killed as hydraulic lift plunges 35 feet
NEW DELHI: The lift of a tower crane collapsed Monday from a height of about 35 feet at a DDA flats construction site in Narela area, killing four workers, police said.
The incident occurred at around 4.30 pm when a service engineer and three labourers were working on the lift of the tower crane, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta said. He said Pramod (30), Sonu (25), Sonu (27) and Raj Kumar (25) were injured in the incident. They were rushed to a hospital where they were declared brought dead, he said. Police said that they were alerted by the hospital about the incident. They rushed to the spot in Narela. "The incident took place around 4:30 pm. We found that all the deceased were in an under- construction site being run by BG Shirke company. The tower crane machine has a hydraulic lift which malfunctioned and resulted in the death of all the persons working inside," the DCP said.
