Delhi singer Harshita Dahiya shot dead at Haryana's Panipat

Harshita Dahiya - a 22-year-old singer was shot dead by unidentified men in Haryana's Panipat district on Tuesday evening while she was returning after a performing in a village, police said.
Sources said the incident took place at around 4pm when Dahiya was returning in her car, along with three others, after performing at Chamrara village when the two men stopped the vehicle and opened fire before fleeing.
Panipat superintendent of police Rahul Sharma said that the assailants asked the other passengers to get down from the car and fired at her. She died on the spot.
Sharma said the men have not been identified yet.
He added, according to a preliminary investigation, Dahiya was a resident of Narela in Delhi and she filed a complaint of rape against her brother-in-law, who is in jail now. She was also a witness in the murder case of her mother, who was killed a few months ago in Delhi, the senior officer said.
Asked about the details of the rape and murder case, Sharma said the police were collecting more details.
Police are suspecting that Harshita's case is a matter of personal enmity and investigation is in progress. They have registered a case of murder against unknown persons.
Dahiya's body was sent for post mortem to the Panipat civil hospital.
