Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will set out for her North Bengal tour on Monday. She will be holding a meeting with representatives of all political parties from the hills, and there will also be administrative review meeting of three districts at Uttar Kanya.
The CM is scheduled to leave Kolkata for North Bengal on Monday evening. The meeting with representatives of all the political parties from the Hills will take place at Pintail Village on Tuesday. This is going to be the fourth meeting with the representatives in the past few months. The first and the third meeting were held at Nabanna and the second one at Uttar Kanya. In the third meeting itself, the Chief Minister had announced the date and place of the fourth meeting.
It may be recalled that normalcy returned to the Hills after the Chief Minister's first meeting with representatives of all the political parties. The three-month long bandh was withdrawn, and development work also resumed.
The state government had earlier announced a Rs 500 crore package, and later an additional Rs 174 crore was earmarked for the development of the Hills.
The new administrative board for the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration also came into existence, and at present, the projects that came to a standstill due to the agitation have resumed.
It is learnt that the preparation for the meeting at Pintail Village is going on in full swing. The Chief Minister will be discussing the current issues in the Hills with representatives of all political parties.
The security arrangement at Pintail village and it's adjoining areas has been tightened to ensure that no untoward incident takes place during the Chief Minister's official visit. The administrative review meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday at Uttar Kanya, the state government's administrative headquarters in North Bengal.
Senior departmental officials will be present at the meeting along with the Chief Secretary Malay De and Director General of Police Surajit Kar Purkayastha.
Representatives of all the local bodies from all the three districts will be present in the meeting. Banerjee will be taking stock of the ongoing projects in the Hills.
