Casino racket busted at ex-army man's Fatehpur Beri farm house; 30 arrested

New Delhi: In the biggest ever haul against high-profile gambling in the Capital, Delhi Police busted a casino racket running inside the farm house of a retired army man in Dera Mandi Road, Fatehpur Beri. The police, during their raid, arrested as many as 30 persons including the masterminds, farm house owner, patricipants, attendants, etc.
Additional DCP (South) Chinmoy Biswal said that the arrests were made on Tuesday after they got information about the illegal activities inside the farm house. Those arrested included some women and natives of Nepal. "The main accused were identified as Radhey Shyam, Vinay Nag, Sandeep Gaba and Vishal Goyal. They were dealer as well as organiser of the illegal activity," the police said, adding that the property belongs to one Rajesh Yadav, who is a retired army personnel. He too has been booked in the case as he did not carry out any tenant verification. The police seized chips worth more than Rs 3 crore.
The farm house is located at an isolated place several km from the nearest Metro station and roads and wear a deserted look. The farm house has a big main gate with a playground and different type of swings. Several luxurious vehicles including SUVs and an Audi were at the spot, most bearing Haryana number plates, and were seized by the police. CCTV cameras were guarding the stair case and the casino room where the entire illegal activity had been going on for a few months.
According to police, the illegal activity was going at the 13-acre farmhouse which has been used for shooting of various TV serials and films. Construction work was going on at the farm house for four-five days. The workers said that never heard any noise from inside.
When they came to the farm house on Wednesday, they saw several cars standing inside. "Never seen so many cars in the morning earlier," said a worker. Sensing the gravity of the matter, the police filed separate FIRs under Sections 3 and 4 of the Delhi Public Gambling Act and 33/38/47 of the Delhi Excise Act at the Fatehpur Beri police station.
