Gujarat reports its first death; overall toll seven, cases rise to 370

Coronavirus (COVID-19) LIVE Updates: As the total number of positive cases in India rose to 370 on Sunday, the Centre issued an advisory to all states directing them to lockdown 75 districts where coronavirus cases have been reported. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to seven on Sunday after three deaths were reported from Gujarat, Bihar and Mumbai, respectively.

In Bihar, a 38-year-old man, who has tested positive for Covid-19, died due to kidney failure, whereas, in Mumbai, a 63-year-old man, admitted in HN Reliance hospital on March 19 with suspected symptoms of flu pass away late Saturday night. The government's advisory notes all trains, metro services and inter-state passenger travel to be shut till March 31.

Meanwhile, ahead of the 'Janata curfew' on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday appealed people to not rush to their hometowns and villages in fear of the coronavirus, urging them to not travel in large numbers. "I pray to all, whichever city you are in, please stay put for a few days. If we do this, we will be able to combat the spread of the virus," PM Modi said. In an attempt to curb the spread of the virus, the PM on Thursday called for a 'Janata curfew' on March 22 (Sunday) asking people to not step out of homes between 7 am and 9 pm.
