Kingpin of oil cutting racket arrested in Bengal

The kingpin of an oil cutting racket was arrested from the Kolkata railway station for allegedly stealing oil from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) pipelines, a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) official said on Tuesday.

"Ganesh Jaiswal, one of the racket leaders, was arrested on Saturday night. His gang was involved in stealing oil from various IOC pipelines across the state," the official said.

The CID also seized a 10-wheeler oil tanker from Howrah district's Sankrail industrial area after interrogating Jaiswal.

"The gang used to mix the stolen oil in various by-products and then sell it to vendors," the official claimed.

"We had earlier arrested another person of this gang."

However, the official refused to comment on Jaiswal's alleged political connections with the state's Bharatiya Janata Party leadership.

"We do not have any information about his political affiliation or proximity with political leaders yet," he added.
