Civilian injured in militant attack in J&K

A civilian was injured on Saturday in a militant attack on security forces on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

A civilian moving in his car was injured when militants fired at two vehicles of security forces plying on the national highway in Vesu area of Anantnag district, a police official said.

"The injured civilian has been shifted to hospital and his condition is stable," the official said.

Militants had ambushed an army convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Lower Munda area earlier in the month killing two personnel.

On Friday, the Army killed five infiltrators on the LoC in Uri sector. Two soldiers were succumbed to injuries in the operation that began three days ago. In addition to the four infiltration attempts from across the LoC were foiled in the last three days, the army said that seven infiltrators had been killed.
