Triple murder in UP's Sitapur, Murder caught on CCTV

A trader along with his wife and son was shot dead by unidentified assailants in an apparent robbery attempt in the district, police said today.

The incident took place last night when some persons shot food grain trader Sunil Jaiswal, his wife Kamini Jaiswal and son Ritik in Civil Lines locality of the city.

Superintendent of Police Mrigendra Singh said the incident appeared to be that of loot. The culprits attacked Suneel at his home and shot him along with his wife and son, who intervened. All three died on the spot, the SP said.

He said the crime branch is investigating the matter and CCTV footage of the incident could help in nabbing the culprits.

Angry locals alleged that when the crime was taking place they had stopped two police constables and sought help but they refused, saying the area was not under their jurisdiction. The locals also threatened to shut the city if the assailants were not arrested in 24-hours.

An official said the crime appears to have been executed by professionals as they were wearing masks and appeared to have done a reeky of the area before they committed the actual crime. So far, the police have not been able to identify the probable reason behind the murders.

One of the neighbours of Jaiswal was also shot by the attackers while trying to help the victim. However, he survived the attack and later called the police.

The trader's association of the district has given a call for a strike to protest the incident and arrest of those involved in the killing.
