Mamata to meet Modi tomorrow

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi her visit to Delhi .

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will speak to the Prime Minister over the decrease in fund allocation by the Centre in several on going projects in the state.
Banerjee who left for New Delhi today is scheduled to meet Prime Minister on Thursday afternoon.

Before leaving for Delhi Banerjee said " There has been curtailment of fund in several projects and I will take it up with the Prime Minister. Also, I will take the issue of Ganga erosion with him." It was learnt that Banerjee will give a list of projects that had been taken up since she met the Prime Minister in 2016. She had demanded release of Rs 10,000 crore to Narendra Modi when she met her in April 2017.

The Centre has drastically reduced funds for the ICDS programmes. But as thousands of people would be affected, the state government decided to continue the programmes despite financial constraints. Also, in the construction of rural roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram sadak Yojna ( PMGSY), the Centre has reduced its share to 60% of the estimated cost while the maintenance of the roads is now the responsibility of the state government
