COVID-19 LIVE: Total number of active cases in India touches 80

Coronavirus outbreak Live Updates: Three more persons tested positive for novel coronavirus in Maharashtra on Friday taking the total cases in the state to 17.

An Iran Air flight carrying 44 Indians stranded in coronavirus-hit Iran, landed at the airport in Mumbai on Friday afternoon, said Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar. This is the second such evacuation by the initiated by the Indian government from Iran. Last week, a batch of 58 Indian was brought back on Saturday. As of Thursday, over 6,000 Indians were stranded in various provinces of Iran.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi government decided to cancel all sporting events, including IPL matches, in the city after the government shut schools, colleges as well as cinema halls till March 31 on Thursday. According to the health ministry, the number of active cases in India now is 80. The first three patients in Kerala have recovered and one person in Karnataka has died of the infection Thursday.

Around the globe, Covid-19 cases reached near 130,000. In Italy, the death toll touched 1,016, second behind China.
