62-yr-old doctor shoots woman dead over affair, kills self

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday recovered bodies of a 62-year-old doctor and his employee with gunshot injuries from inside a car in Rohini Sector-13. The initial investigation suggests that the doctor may have shot the woman (50) with his licensed gun and then shot himself dead.

At around 7.45 am, the Prashant Vihar police station was alerted. A team reached the spot and found that the car was locked from inside.

The police team broke open the window of the vehicle to gain access to the bodies. The woman was shot in her chest while the doctor had shot himself in his head. "Pistol was found in the right hand of the doctor," an investigator added.

The doctor and the woman had worked together for over 15 years, police said. Earlier, she used to assist him at his clinic in Samaypur Badli. Later, when the doctor started his hospital in Sector 15, Rohini, in 2005, she joined him and was looking after administrative work. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) S D Mishra said initial investigation suggests that both the deceased had a long-standing affair. "The woman was pressurising the doctor to marry her," said Mishra.
