Bidhannagar civic body begins eviction drive

Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken up eviction drive to remove the encroachers along the road between Jora Mandir and Chinar Park. The step has been taken to widen the road.

Local MLA from the area Purnendu Basu, however, assured that all the shops which were there along the road in this stretch will be rehabilitated. There were around 200 shops in the area as a result the road had become narrow. As a result of this traffic jam along the Rajarhat road was a regular phenomenon in that area. In last month, BMC had served notice to the shop owners to shift their stalls to somewhere else. From early Thursday morning BMC along with the Public Works Department started the eviction process.

According to the BMC officials the widening of the Rajarhat road between the stretch of Jora Mandir and Chinar Park is expected to be completed within three months. BMC will take up several beatification projects along two sides of the road.
