Bhushan files complaint against CBI Director

AAP leader Prashant Bhushan on Tuesday filed a complaint against CBI Director Ranjit Sinha accusing him of abusing his position to shield the main accused in the 2G spectrum scam. The complaint comes after the Supreme Court directed Sinha to recuse himself from the investigations in
2G Spectrum upon the petition filed by Bhushan.

‘Sinha was taking several important decisions in these important cases including what should be the line of investigation, how should the CBI conduct its cases in courts etc,’ said Bhushan in his letter adding that the entries in the visitors’ register at his home showed the CBI chief was ‘having meetings, with several accused persons in prominent cases like 2G scam, coal scam and Moin Qureshi.’

The apex court has been monitoring the CBI’s investigation since 2010 based on a petition by Bhushan. Bhushan in his complaint has said that since its now established prima facie that Sinha did try to scuttle probe in the scam and protect the main accused, a criminal case should be registered against him and the matter investigated. Meanwhile, Sinha, who subsequently recused himself from the case, is to retire on 2 December.
