Bhuria slams Centre for good governance day

Former Union minister for Tribal Affairs Kantilal Bhuria on Monday condemned the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for celebrating the Good Governance Day despite massacre of tribals in Assam by Bodo extremists.

He also alleged that the Bodo groups had supported BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.

“Despite the massacre of tribals at the hands of Bodo organisations, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government celebrated good governance day across the nation and has not shown any remorse for the poor tribals,” he said. Good Governance Day was celebrated on the 90th birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25.

On December 23, suspected NDFB (Songbijit) militants launched a series of attacks at four places in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam killing many people.

81 people were killed in the violence in the wake of NDFB(S) attack, retaliatory violence by adivasis and police firing.
