Bhel, Russia co to build Kazakh power plant

“The two parties will endeavour to assist each other in the implementation of this MoU. For us, this is a great opportunity to expand our footprint in the CIS region,” Bhel Chairman and Managing Director B P Rao said. Primarily engaged in manufacturing of power plant equipment like gas turbines, steam turbines, hydro turbines and boilers, Bhel has robust experience in construction of power plants in India and overseas, it said. Bhel is currently executing 23 major projects in 16 countries and has a presence in more than 75 countries.

INTMA is one of the leading general Engineering Procurement and Construction contractors (EPC) in Russia and Kazakhstan, with wide experience in industrial construction, renovation of facilities, automation and other energy related sectors, Bhel added. The MoU, the company said in a press release, aims to set forth a path to combine the Bhel’s competence in design and manufacturing of power plants and INTMA’s strength in handling EPC contracts so as to bid and execute projects of mutual interest in Russia and Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, After the success of two rounds of mines auction, the Coal Ministry is planning to start the bidding process for another 23 blocks next week. “The government is contemplating to the initiate auction process of 23 coal blocks next week,” an official said, adding that 12 would be for the power sector and other 11 for non-power sector.
