Bengal Assembly Budget Session to begin from Feb 3

The Budget Session of the Bengal Assembly will begin from February 3.

The session is expected to continue till February 20.

Partha Chatterjee, the state Parliamentary Affairs minister, had a talk in this regard with the Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

There will be an All Party Meeting. The business of the house will be finalised in the business advisory committee meeting and the session will begin with the Governor’s speech followed by discussions on the Budget.

Usually not many Bills are placed in the Budget session apart from those which are very important or for those whose amendment has become quite essential.

Usually the state’s Budget session begins after Union Budget is placed. It was an exception last year as the vote on account was placed ahead of the Union Budget.

The reason being there was Assembly election in Bengal in 2016. This year, the Union Budget is scheduled to be placed on February 1 and the Budget session in the state’s Assembly will begin on February 3.

Meanwhile, the next Cabinet meeting in the state secretariat is scheduled to be held on January 30. The Cabinet meeting, just three days ahead of the Budget session is going to be a crucial one.
