Beliaghata firing: Lady SI to be questioned

In a new twist to the Beliaghata firing incident, the involvement of a lady sub-inspector (SI) of the Kolkata Police has come to light and she would be summoned for questioning at Lalbazar.

It may be mentioned that the accused youth, Diwakar had opened fire at the woman Chumki Das, who was pregnant and had an affair with the youth, on Tuesday night following a heated argument between them.

In her statement to the police, Chumki alleged that Diwakar had a “close relation” with a lady SI at present posted at Garfa Police Station.

She also alleged that the SI had threatened her and had helped Diwakar to get call details of her phone.

Chumki had got engaged into an affair with Diwakar following the divorce with her husband. Sources said that to verify the statement of Chumki, the lady SI may be questioned.

Chumki had also lodged a complaint with the police alleging that she was being raped by Diwakar and he had kept her locked in his house at Raigunj in South Dinajpur.

He opened fire at her as she had lodged complaint against him.

Diwakar had also threatened to kill her and her daughter if she took any legal step and he finally attempted to kill her.
