B’desh A reach 188/3 in 2nd innings after Karnataka’s 287

Bangladesh A batsmen gave a much better account of themselves on the second day as they reached 188 for three in their second innings after Ranji Trophy champions Karnataka scored 287 in their first essay to take a handy lead of 129 runs.

Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy scored 89 off 87 balls while Litton Kumar Das played patiently for his unbeaten 37 as the visitors now lead 59 runs with seven wickets in hand and a day’s play left.

For Karnataka, veteran off-spinner Udit Patel had a good day as he first contributed 40 with the bat to give his side a sizeable lead and then picked up 2 for 44 including a <g data-gr-id="31">ramapaging</g> Bijoy and skipper Mominul Haque.

Bijoy’s innings consisted of eight fours and five huge sixes. However, Karnataka still <g data-gr-id="28">have</g> a chance of an outright victory if they restrict Bangladesh in the range of 150 runs and then have sufficient time to get those runs.

At the start of the second day’s play at 163 for six, Shishir Bhavane (88) and Jagadeesha Suchith (41) added 127 runs for the seventh wicket which was the foundation of a 100 plus lead for the hosts.
<g data-gr-id="25">Bhavane’s</g> innings contained 13 boundaries and two sixes as he played 175 balls.

He was out caught by Litton off leg-spinner Jubair Hossain. Once <g data-gr-id="30">Bhavane</g> and Suchith were out in quick succession, the last two wickets added 60 runs courtesy Udit’s 60-ball-40 that had three fours and as many sixes.
