Bassi taking undue advantage of his position, says AAP

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs Saurabh Bhardwaj and Somnath Bharti on Monday filed a complaint against Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi with the police vigilance department head.

The AAP in a press statement said that Bassi has been sheltering anti-social elements from the law and taking undue advantage of his position and saving them from punishment.

“The complaint is in reference to the incident of Commissioner Bassi’s brother Ravi Bassi causing hindrance and obstructing Delhi government officials from carrying out their duties. He did not just obstruct the work of the officials but also threatened them to stay away from their duty and responsibilities,” said Saurabh Bhardwaj.

“The Delhi government officials then tried their best to complain to the police about Ravi Bassi but higher pressure from none other than the Commissioner himself is preventing police officials from taking action against the offender,” he added.

“On November 26, 2015, three officials of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies complained to the Prashant Vihar Police station about the incident but no action has been initiated till date.

“The officers of the Registrar of Co-operative Societies were inspecting the working of a Rohini-based Lucky home co-operative society on November 26 when this incident happened. When the officials were on their inspection work, Ravi Bassi came to the scene and abused the officials and threatened them with dire consequences,” said AAP in a press statement.

AAP believes that the police is for the welfare and safety of the people. Such an incident of someone going berserk on duty-bound government officials to protect the guilty under the influence of his Delhi Police connections is alarming.

The guilty need to be booked and the person protecting him should also face consequences, said the statement.
