Basement wall collapses in Saket, 2 dead

Two persons were killed after an under-construction wall of a basement collapsed in south-Delhi’s Saket area. The incident took place on Friday afternoon when the duo was working in the basement.

According to officials in the fire department, the wall collapsed at about 3.45 pm and a call was made at around 3.50 pm. Three fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot and those trapped were rescued. They were rushed to the nearby hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead on arrival.

The deceased have been identified as Tohseem (27) and Kara (45). They were labourers and at the time of the incident, the duo was working near the wall that collapsed on them. Investigation is on to learn the exact reason for the accident. “Their bodies have been sent for the post-mortem examination and the contractor has been informed about the incident who had informed their respective families. So far no case has been registered,” the official said.
