Bar dancer’s body recovered in Baguiati

Mystery shrouds the death of a bar dancer whose body was found inside a rented house at Baguiati on Thursday morning. The incident had triggered tension at Teghoria under Baguiati police station following the recovery of her body. Police said that there were injury marks on her legs. Police are yet to ascertain if it is an incident of suicide or if there was any foul play behind the incident.

Police said that the victim, Mamoni Gayen rented a room at Teghoria area few a months ago, and she was living with another woman. On Wednesday night, the victim was alone in the room. On early Thursday morning, the owners of the house spotted the body and informed the matter to the police who reached the spot and started an investigation.

They sent the body to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital for the post-mortem examinations. The investigating officers are awaiting the post-mortem report which might throw some light on the incident.

Police are not ruling out the possibility of foul play behind the incident. In the interrogation, the police came to know that the woman who was originally from New Town was a bar dancer.

They are also investigating why the victim started living in a rented room in Baguiati. The nature of injuries found on her body suggests that she might have been involved in a scuffle giving a strong indication to the investigating officers that the bar dancer might have been murdered.

They are yet to ascertain the motive behind the crime. Police have started a probe. The local people were interrogated in this connection. It may be mentioned that in last one month, bodies of five persons have been recovered from various parts under the Bidhannagar police Commissionarate areas.

Among them, three persons were murdered and the investigating officers have already arrested the accused in this connection. But in Thursday’s incident the police are yet arrest anybody.
