Bansal case: DCW summons officers of CBI, police

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has summoned the Assistant Inspector General of CBI and Deputy Commissioner of Police in connection with the suicide by tainted senior government official BK Bansal and his son allegedly due to harassment by a few officials. DCW had earlier issued notices to CBI and Delhi Police seeking action taken report in the case. But the commission was not satisfied with the responses received prompting it to issue summonses.

“Prima facie, this appears to be a shocking instance of alleged victimization and abetment of suicide of the family of an accused. DCW had sent a notice to the Director, CBI. “However, no information was provided to the commission and it was informed that the matter is pending inquiry in the CBI,” the summon issued on Wednesday read.

“The reply was found to be unsatisfactory and inadequate. The commission then sent another notice seeking a detailed point-wise reply. However, till date no response was received neither any action was taken on the suicide note. Therefore, the AIG, CBI has been summoned to appear before the panel and provide the detailed reply,” it added.

The commission said in a statement, “DCP East, Delhi Police was sent a notice to provide an action taken report in the case. The reply was found to be unsatisfactory and inadequate. Therefore he has been summoned to appear before the commission on October 25 to provide the detailed reply”. Two months after his wife Satyabala and Neha committed suicide, Bansal, former Director General Corporate Affairs, and his son Yogesh had also allegedly hanged themselves on September 27.
