Bangladesh boat capsize claims 13 lives

“So far, 13 bodies, including five of women and a minor, has been recovered,” police Assistant Superintendent Motaleb Hossain said.

“Many passengers are still missing,” an <g data-gr-id="12">officiwal</g> in coastal Barisal district said. He said fire service divers with the help of police and people in were carrying out rescue operations.

A fire service official said that their divers had traced the vessel and were trying to look for more bodies. “Some 25 passengers were rescued or swam ashore as the launch sank near a terminal,” a police officer said.

Ferry accidents are common in Bangladesh.
