LOOT, ARSON IN NOIDA, 50 HELD
The nation-wide strike called by central trade unions turned violent in Noida as workers indulged in loot and damage of property at a hosiery complex and set ablaze several vehicles leading to 50 arrests. The rampage took place in Noida Phase 2 area.
STRIKE GETS PARTIAL RESPONSE IN BENGAL
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee kept her promise ensuring sufficient public transport in the city, but there were hardly any takers for the services, making the strike partially successful. Flight operations and train services were normal, despite minor disruptions.
AMBALA UNION LEADER KILLED
A trade union leader trying to stop a bus from plying was killed in Ambala as the two-day nationwide strike called by trade unions disrupted normal life in many states on Wednesday and hit banking and transport sectors.
