Bandaru Dattatreya inaugurates six-bedded day care unit of ESIC in Dwarka; more on the way, says minister

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment (Independent Charge) Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday inaugurated six bedded day care unit of Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in Sector 7, Dwarka. 

On its inauguration, Dattatreya informed the gathering that the ESIC dispensary had now become a complete unit in itself with medical facilities like General OPD care, Family Welfare Services, full time laboratory and X-ray and Diagnostic care. 

Dattatreya also mentioned that with the opening of this facility, the ESI members and their family will not have to visit the ESIC hospital for minor ailments. 

Dattatreya also highlighted that there are plans by the Centre to turn the day care in Nandnagari, Mangolpuri and Jwalapuri into dispensaries. By doing so, the minister said that the ESIC dispensary medical facilities will be able to cover the entire zone of Delhi. 

“Central government will be extending the facilities of six-bedded day care centres in various ESIC dispensaries all over the country. These centres will become a medical unit in it with complete medical facilities,” said Dattatreya. 

To further improve the medical services to the patients from the working class, Dattatreya informed: “Facilities like  dental care, physiotherapy, yoga, X-ray plant on PPP model, mother and child tracking, courier services will deliver the medicines at the insured person’s doorsteps.”

Dattatreya also announced conversation of all four ESIC hospitals of Delhi at Basaidarpur, Rohini, Okhla and Jhilmil which will be converted to superspecialty hospitals. We will like to make every insured person to be treated like a VIP. 

The minister also informed that the ESIC has taken an initiative in the form of ‘Kahin Bhi, Kabhi Bhi’. Under this scheme any all the network of dispensaries will be made accessible to insured persons and their family members all the time. 

This will save the time of the insured members to avail the services of the ESI medical facilities closer to her/his home, workplace. Various other facilities like introducing telemedicine services, enhancement of wage ceiling from Rs 15,000 to Rs 21,000 thousand, annual preventive health checkup of age up to forty years and increasing the maternity benefit in confinement from twelve weeks to twenty six weeks was also mentioned.
