The Cairn India - Most Energetic Indian Player of the Tournament award for Champions Trophy 2014 was given to SomwarpetVittalacharya Sunil. In an endeavour to encourage the sport and recognise the sporting champions, Cairn India gave out a special award titled ‘Cairn India - Most Energetic Indian Player of the Tournament’.
This award was given to the Indian player who made the maximum impact in the tournament. The award carrying a cash prize of INR 1 lakh was presented during the closing ceremony of Champions Trophy at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Orissa on December 14.
With evident boost in the Indian team’s performance and rising potential, the team has been producing a string of quality performances through the year. One such player who stood out in the tournament to win this award was Somwarpet Vittalacharya Sunil with his energetic role in the tournament.
Sunil made his senior international debut in the 2007 Asia Cup in Chennai, the tournament that India won. He was also a part of the team that won the silver at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2008. The 2011 Champion's Challenge was an early high point in his career in which he scored four goals, the most by an Indian forward.
