Auto, taxi unions to strike on Sept 2

Auto and Taxi unions in the National Capital on Monday threatened to go on a one-day strike on September 2 against the newly-introduced ‘City Taxi’ scheme by the Delhi government under which small cars will be allowed to ply on city roads. Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh and Delhi Pradesh Taxi Union said that the new scheme will “snatch” the livelihood of the drivers of <g data-gr-id="9" style="color: #3b3b3b; font-size: 11px;">auto rickshaws</g> and taxis. Both the associations claimed to have received <g data-gr-id="10" style="color: #3b3b3b; font-size: 11px;">support</g> of Anna Hazare’s organisation. Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh’s general secretary Rajendra Soni said auto unions can’t compromise with the drivers’ livelihood.
