Attacks on TMC workers continue in state

Attack on Trinamool Congress workers continued with two people including a woman being beaten up in Murshidabad and North Dinajpur after more than 13 days have passed since the elections in these parts.

On Tuesday morning, at Salar in Murshidabad Trinamool Congress panchayat member Falguni Bibi was attacked while she was busy in her household. Around 20 to 25 Congress supporters attacked her house. She was dragged out from her house and beaten up till she fell unconscious.

She received severe injuries on her head. Some valuables in her house were also damaged. Her neighbours tried to rescue Falguni, but they were also restricted from approaching to save her.

Falguni’s family members later lodged a complaint with the police and alleged that she was a Congress gram panchayat member. But she had joined Trinamool Congress a few days ahead of the Assembly elections and it led to all trouble. The Congress backed goons had allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she worked for Trinamool Congress. Braving the threat she worked for the party.

On Tuesday, the miscreants conducted the raid when there was no one in her house. They fled finding some Trinamool Congress workers from the adjacent village were approaching the spot.

She received stitches on her head and was admitted to Kandi Sub-divisional hospital. Complaint has been lodged with the police against four persons, but the police are yet to arrest anyone. In another incident at Raiganj in North Dinajpur, a Trinamool Congress worker was beaten up allegedly by some Forward Bloc-backed goons.
