At Rajghat, mother pays tribute on Nirbhaya’s death anniversary

To pay tributes to her daughter Nirbhaya on her fourth death anniversary, her mother along with many others reached Rajghat on Thursday.

The mother still seems to be angry over the fact the rapists are yet to be hanged.

Lashing out at politicians she said: “Those politicians you saw when the incident was fresh have now disappeared. They only come at the time of votes or when they want to grab limelight.”

After paying tributes, she talked to media and showed her resentment towards the system.

“If the rapists of Nirbahaya are still not hanged, imagine what will happen to other cases that did not acquire limelight,” she said.

She also blamed the Central government for not utilising the Rs 200-crore Nirbhaya Fund, earmarked to compensate the victims of sexual assault, effectively.

Nirbhaya’s father could not attend the anniversary as he was out of Delhi because of a relative’s death.

The Physiotherapy student was gang-raped by six men on December 16,2012 in a moving bus and later succumbed to her injuries on December 29.
