Ashes of slain Cong leader immersed in Sangam

Ashes of Chattishgarh Congress committee president Nand Kumar Patel, his son Dinesh Patel and another Congress leader Uday Mudiliyar, who died in a Naxal attack last week, were immersed in Sangam in Allahabad, here on Thursday. The ashes of Patel and his son  were brought here by his youngest son Umesh Patel while Uday’s ashes was carried by his nephew.

UP Congress spokesperson Amarnath Agarwal said here that the ashes of all the three leaders were brought from Raipur by train and later they were taken to sangam decked in a truck decorated with flowers.

UP Congress president Nirmal Khatri, former state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and other senior leaders including Pramod Tiwari, Anugurah Narain Singh also accompanied the ashes on the truck. The Congress workers raised slogan’s of ‘ Nand Kumar Patel Amar rahe’ throughout the route.

Later talking to media persons, Nirmal Khatri said that Congress would not bow to any Maoist pressure and would give the anti-nationals a befitting reply.He also blamed the Raman Singh government for the laxity in controlling the Moist menace. The ashes of  senior Chhattisgarh Congress leader Mahendra Karma would reach here early tomorrow morning by road.

Altogether 29 congress leaders were killed and 20 others were injured during a Maoist ambush in Sukuma area of Bastar district on 25 May.
