Asansol trader shot at

A coal trader of Asansol was shot from point blank range on Monday night while he was returning home riding his motorbike. He was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition.

The investigators believe that some coal mafia might be involved in the
case.

An investigation was initiated.

The police informed that Shyamal Bauri, a coal trader was returning back to his house while the assailants attacked him.

The gun-toting assailant came from the opposite direction via a motor bike and stopped the vehicle on the way.

“One of the goons shot him from point blank range before escaping,” said an investigator.

The investigators have learnt that the victim had some rivalry over land possession recently. His rivals may have assigned those goons to kill him.

“I think the goons clearly missed the target. They tried to shoot him on his chest,” the investigator said.

It is to be recalled that a coal mafia member was shot to his death while he was returning back home a few weeks ago at Asansol.

His friend was also shot, but was admitted in a hospital and is battling for his life.

Police said, Shekh Amin, a dreaded criminal, who was out on bail for last three month, was shot at

Kailashput village of Durgapore.

He succumbed to his injuries. His friend, who was also coming beside Amin received bullets injuries but people managed to rush him to a hospital.

The police, however, made a plan of action to curb the coal mafia activities in the area.
