As Chinese as it can get

Like I have said earlier, restaurants inside malls are not really my thing. But sometimes, and only sometimes, this format might actually work out. And for that you need two things — the food should be good and the ambience should have a young feel about it. Fine dining is not really a thing for malls.

This is where Yo China Cafe! Scores. I was frankly a little apprehensive before heading to Yo China’s refurbished version for dinner since my experience with the franchise has never been great. The food usually has been tasteless, the portions small and delivery to my south Delhi house takes forever from their branch which is just 10 minutes away.

But this one surprised me. It has a vibrant and chirpy feel to it — perfect for collegegoers and dinners with friends. The menu has splashes of colour and is huge. Since the cafe doesn’t have a liquor license yet, they have done an innovative thing — lined up the shelves with banta bottles. The service is quick and the waiters clearly know their Schezwan sauce from their Hong Kong sauce. The food is a mix of Chinese and Thai really.

I was really impressed with their mocktails. Some like the Rose water and cranberry martini (check recipe) were actually very good. They also have a checklist of dimsums where you can actually see a picture of what you are ordering and there is a wide variety on offer. Some, like the Pacman dumplings, are downright cute. In general, food here is something that will leave you satisfied. Go for a fun evening out with friends or family. Skip if you have romance in mind.
