Arunachal scraps 7 power projects

Arunachal Pradesh has scrapped seven projects with installed capacity of 1,258.5 MW, with the power developers due to non-performance and breach of agreement as per the MoUs, chief minister Nabam Tuki told the state assembly on Monday.  It had inked a total 153 MoUs to execute power projects in the state with a total installed capacity of 43,118.7 MW in the last decade, he said responding to a question from Trinamool Congress member Laeta Umbrey during Question Hour. Replying to Umbrey’s charges, Tuki said in most of the power project sites the people have voluntarily supported them but in certain districts there had been opposition due to ‘lack of awareness’ about the benefits.
