After a long chase which involved breaking barricades and gunfire, the police arrested two persons who were trying to flee with a robbed SUV from near a resort at Gurgaon, police said on Saturday.

The accused have been identified as Amit Dalal and Sandeep, residents of Palwal and Sohna district. According to the police, the control room received information on the intervening night between December 25 and 26, which said that two individuals had snatched an SUV from a man identified as Jasbir, near the Leisure Valley Resort.

Jasbir, a resident of the Jhajjar village, drove the car as a cab for a private firm. On the night of December 25, he went to drop an employee of the firm near the resort. On his way back, he was intercepted by about five men, who dragged him forcefully out of the car. They threatened to stab him with a knife and later two of them fled with the vehicle. A police team was formed immediately and barricades were set up at Sohna. The accused broke past the barricades and speeded towards Palwal. During the chase, the accused fired a few rounds at the police vehicle, but missed the target. They were finally arrested in Palwal.
