Appointment of DU V-C expected in Jan

In a process of selecting the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, a meeting will be held on December 13 at the UGC office. Based on the reports from the sources, the shortlisted candidates would be interviewed by the search committee members.

On the basis of sources, out of 200 candidates, 15 have been shortlisted, who would be interviewed. According to reports, some of the prominent names among the list of these candidates are Dhananjai Pandey professor at Banaras Hindi University (BHU), N N Roy from North Eastern University and Netaji Subash Institute Technology’s Director Yogesh Pratap Singh.

The search committee which is been formed by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) to select the Vice-Chancellor is been headed by Ved Prakash, Chairman, University Grants Commission. The other two members which the search committee consists of are former Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Vinod Rai and ex-chairman, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) DP Aggarwal. Sudhish Pachauri is the present interim Vice-Chancellor of DU who took over the reins from Prof Dinesh Singh. The name of the new DU Vice-Chancellor is expected to be announced in January, 2016.
