Apathy thy name is authority

Ravi Kumar, 18,  was hit by a MCD truck near the Anand Vihar bus stand on Tuesday morning around 10.30, while crossing the road. Ravi is a computer student and a resident of Ansari Nagar, New Delhi. He was taken to the Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where the doctors failed to treat him due to lack of medical facilities, but still they kept him on hold. After wasting precious time, they referred him to Guru Tej Bahadur hospital. Here, the doctors did not turn up to administer him proper medication. The boy has severe leg injury, his face was swollen, and his urinary tract was badly damaged.

Finally, his family managed to take him out of GTB hospital and admitted him in the AIIMS Trauma Centre on Tuesday evening.

Now he is under the observation of Dr Manish of the orthopedic department of AIIMS. ‘Just because of the negligence of the doctors of LBS and GTB, the patient’s condition has deteriorated. His legs need to be amputated. He is also suffering various complications. His kidney has failed and his urinary tract is damaged. He is now dependent on urinary pipes,’ said Dr Manish.

Now he is on a life-support system. Bone grafting and back surgeries are also being done. As of now, the patient is unconscious. According  to Dr Manish, the patient might go into coma.

The police is playing its apathy card as well. They are not investigating the accident. Moreover, according to sources, the police took money from the victims’ wallet when he was lying hurt in the middle of the road.
